Richa Shukla is a partner based in New Delhi office of Khaitan Legal Associates. Richa’s main focus is the Insurance Practice.
Prior to joining Khaitan Legal Associates, Richa was heading the client advisory services for the financial lines team at Marsh Insurance Brokers, India and was based in Mumbai. Whilst at Marsh, Richa focussed on insurance policy wordings for the financial lines products to create bespoke policies for the Marsh clients and dealt with handling the claims.
Richa is a dually qualified lawyer in India and UK. She qualified as an Advocate of the Bar Council of Delhi in 1997 and was enrolled as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales in 2002. She began her career with a leading senior counsel in New Delhi and worked on corporate litigations matters in the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India and the local tribunals. Subsequently, she practiced in the areas of company/commercial law with law firms in New Delhi and London. Richa was also a part of ICICI Bank’s in-house legal team in New Delhi.
Richa joined the Willis Group in London in 2006 and worked with their mergers & acquisitions, transactional services team. At the Willis Group, Richa was involved in the review of transactional documents and creating bespoke legal and technical insurance solutions for mergers & acquisitions transactions and contingency risks in tax and litigation matters. This included transactions in the UK, Europe, USA, Australia and Asia and involved working closely with leading law firms in these juridictions.
In 2011, Richa relocated to Singapore to head Willis’ mergers & acquisitions practice in Asia with a view to bringing a focus on creating insurance solutions for the transactions in Asia. During her tenure, Richa managed and completed placement of a M&A policy for a USD 1 billion dollar transaction involving exit of a leading US private equity company from a China based business.
